We’re warning schools against wasting precious budgets on ‘poorly chosen’ equipment.
Schools must use caution when choosing their IT portfolios with many schools wasting money on tech that often ends up unused – especially as schools continue to grapple with shrinking budgets where every penny counts.
A recent BBC report has stated that ‘rising costs’ are forcing headteachers to make ‘difficult choices’ over what schools can afford.
Our Managing Director Rob Hepworth has said it is not uncommon for schools to spend large portions of their IT budgets on equipment that is unsuitable for most classrooms.
Rob added: “Technology now drives teaching and learning in schools, but you don’t need flashy equipment to reap the rewards. Investing in the right pieces of tech doesn’t need to be expensive, but so many schools are being sold equipment with a hefty price tag and little benefit.
When it comes to making the most of budgets, Rob recommends seeking a trusted and experienced IT company to help identify the right product choices.
He continued: “Put your money in the right hands in the first instance. Shop around, do some research and tread with caution – just because it’s the latest product doesn’t mean it’s a good fit for the classroom. It’s a mistake so many schools make and a lot of money ends up going down the drain.”
